Political Support for Ukraine

In an attempt to keep everybody informed on the events in Ukraine and what actions have been taken, I’ve started a news page. The first post I would like to dedicate to the current resolutions and acts trying to get passed in Congress and the Senate: a resolution for the return of abducted Ukrainian children before peace negotiations (H.Res.564/S.Res.236), and the SHADOW Fleet Act (S.2904).

Humanitarian Bills

H.Res.564 and S.Res.236 call for the return of all abducted Ukrainian children before peace negotiations may be made between Ukraine and Russia. With the Ukrainian government confirming 19,000 cases, studies such as the one by the Yale Humanitarian Lab estimate the number to be closer to 35,000 and growing. Making it imperative to prioritize their return and ensure they won’t be used as bargaining chips in negotiation deals. The House resolution currently has 47 cosponsors, and the Senate Resolution has 34 cosponsors.

Economic Bills

The SHADOW Fleet Act focuses more on economic issues, prioritizing the sanctioning of Russian ships that illegally carry oil through deceptive methods. These fleets, usually old, unregulated ships, change flags, turn off location transponders, and paint over identity numbers in order to circumvent the 2022 Russian oil price cap. This Senate bill is imperative because the illegally sold oil is allowing for funding for this war to continue pouring in. Not only is this unlawful, but in today’s global oil problems with the closure of the Straight of Hormuz, it’s crucial to hold Russia accountable and end the war on innocent people. As of May 2026, the Resolution has 12 original cosponsors and 9 additional cosponsors.

What Can You Do?

I urge you to follow organizations like the American Coalition for Ukraine and Razom to stay informed about upcoming events and help spread the word. Additionally, if you are a U.S. constituent, consider sending a letter, emailing, or calling your local officials. Remember, your members of Congress are elected to voice your opinions and make a difference. So reach out, participate in democracy, and make a difference in your community.
